extra time for check-in, the indemnity form and kitting up.
Your Ride, Step by Step
Meet us at the reserve at the time we give you, or travel with us
if we're arranging your transfer. Everyone shows proof of ID and
signs the City of Cape Town's indemnity and waiver of liability,
and we buy the reserve permits for your group.
Your guide fits your helmet and safety gear, explains how the quad
works, and covers riding on sand and the reserve's rules before
anyone sets off.
Try the throttle, brakes and steering on easier ground until you
feel comfortable. No previous experience is needed.
Follow your guide in single file through the part of the reserve
set aside for quad biking, for the 30, 45 or 60 minutes you booked.
Riding in the tracks ahead is easier in loose sand and keeps the
dune vegetation intact.
Stops to rest, regroup and take photos are part of your session
time.
Ride back to the start, return your helmet and gear, and head home
or carry on with your transfer.
Rider Requirements & Reserve Rules
These come from the City of Cape Town's rules for the reserve and our own
requirements. Please read them before you book: you'll be asked to follow them
on the day.
Everyone in your group, drivers and passengers, must show proof of
identification when entering the reserve. Bring your original ID
document or passport, and ask us what to bring for children.
Everyone must also sign the City of Cape Town's indemnity and waiver
of liability; nobody is allowed in without it.
Drivers must be 16 or older, the reserve's minimum recommended age
for quad bikes. Children under 16 may only ride as a passenger with
an adult on a two-seater quad bike. A standard quad is built for one
person and never carries a passenger. Tell us the ages of any
children when you enquire so we can confirm a suitable two-seater.
The maximum rider weight is 140 kg.
Helmets are compulsory and provided. No alcohol or illegal substances
may be brought into the reserve, and nobody under the influence may
ride. Follow your guide's instructions at all times.
The reserve protects endangered Cape Flats dune strandveld and
critically endangered Atlantis sand fynbos. Quads stay inside the
area set aside for them, never drive over dune vegetation, and
follow the tracks ahead. Don't litter or disturb plants or animals.
The City doesn't allow commercial tours in the reserve on Wednesdays,
unless the Wednesday is a public holiday. The reserve is open from
07:00 to 19:00 (September to February) and 08:00 to 18:00 (March to
August), and tours must finish an hour before closing. Other days
depend on our availability.

Location & Transfers
We meet at the reserve near Atlantis, north of Cape Town. We'll send exact meeting instructions and an arrival time when we confirm your booking.
- Witzands Aquifer Nature Reserve
Off Dassenberg Drive (R307), Atlantis, Cape Town
- Reserve hours: 07:00–19:00 (September to February); 08:00–18:00 (March to August). Tours must finish an hour before closing.
- No commercial tours on Wednesdays, unless it's a public holiday.
- Transport isn't included. We can quote a transfer from your accommodation; travel time depends on where you're staying and on traffic.
Quad Biking FAQs
We quote every booking individually. Send a booking request or a WhatsApp message with your package, date and number of riders, and we'll reply with your total before anything is booked. Your quote includes the City of Cape Town's reserve permit, which is charged per quad bike. Two-seater quads (an adult with a child passenger) are quoted the same way.
No, we arrange it. The City of Cape Town charges a reserve permit fee per quad bike, on top of our tour fee. The reserve's Code of Conduct requires tour operators to buy permits on behalf of their clients, so we buy yours and include it in your quote. You don't need to queue at the permit office, and you won't need cash: the reserve is a cashless facility.
