Overview
Take the ferry across Table Bay to Robben Island, the former prison island where Nelson Mandela was incarcerated for 18 of his 27 years in prison. Tours are often led by former political prisoners, giving you a first-hand account of the struggle against apartheid that you won't find in any textbook.
The scenic ferry ride alone offers unmatched views back towards Table Mountain and the Cape Town coastline, before you step onto the island for a guided tour of the prison and its grounds. See Rules & Requirements below before you book.
